Two teachers and two students from St Thomas More College’s Alternative Learning Programme (ALP) school in Paola, recently visited Marigliano, Italy, where they attended a week-long Erasmusplus mobility programme on literature as part of the project ‘Multicultural aspects in our schools’.

The event was also attended by teachers and students from Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey and Romania. The participants from every country had to present poems, novels, legends or other literature that has to do with their country’s respective culture.

The Maltese delegates presented the poem Il-kebbies tal-fanali by Anton Buttigieg, the lyrics of the songs Dgħajsa tal-Latini and L-aħħar bidwi f’Wied il-Għasel, and a feature on these works. The host team presented literature by Alessandro Manzoni and Dante Alighieri, while the Greeks presented Greek mythology.

During their stay, the participants had the opportunity to visit Pompei, Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and enjoyed a tour of its famous coast.
