ABELA. On February 3, three days prior her 89th birthday, MARY, widow of Louis Abela, pharmacist at Abela’s Pharmacy, passed away peacefully at her residence comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her 10 children, Maria and her husband Emanuel Galea, Joe (widower of Vivienne), Manuel (her devoted carer), Anna and her husband Anthony Caruana, Frankie and his wife Dr Anna Maria, Paul and his wife Rita, Charlie and his wife Mariella, Monica and her husband Dr Ian Galea, Jacqueline and her husband Mario Grech and Simone and her husband Paul Dimech, her 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Ursola Farrugia and Maria Camilleri, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves her residence in Republic Street, Victoria, today, Sunday, February 4, at 2.30pm for the Gozo Cathedral where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment at St Mary’s Cemetery, Xewkija. No flowers by request but donations to Gozo Cathedral solidarity fund and/or to S.D.C. MUSEUM Boys of Victoria, will be much appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest and peace. The family would like to thank the staff at the Gozo General Hospital for their care and dedication shown during her brief illness.

AGIUS MUSCAT. On February 2, at Villa Messina, ANTHONY of Ħamrun, aged 86, passed away peacefully after a long illness borne with Christian fortitude, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Vera, née Muscat Azzopardi, his children Anthide, Hugo and his wife Cecilia, Lucienne and her husband Stephen Cumbo, his grandchildren Matthew, Simon and his fiancée Rachel, Alessia, Karl and Maria, his brothers and in-laws, nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank the staff at Mater Dei Hospital, Karin Grech Hospital and Villa Messina, and many others, for all their loving care and support. The funeral was held yesterday.

BORG. On January 29, GEORGE of Victoria, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss, his wife Miriam, his children Dr Godfrey Borg and his wife Silvana, his daughters Nathalie and her husband Konrad Scicluna and Maureen and her partner Emanuel, his sister Lina and her husband George Gauci, his brothers Joe, Maurice and his wife Amata and Victor and his wife  Miriam, his grandchildren Nicholas, Lara, Hannah, Tiffanie, Elise, Christian and Kurt. The funeral cortège leaves Gozo General Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, at 3.30pm for St George’s Basilica, Victoria, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4pm, followed by interment at the family grave at St Mary’s cemetery, Victoria. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAMILLERI. On February 1, at his residence, TONY (Bayzo), of St Paul’s Bay, passed away peacefully at the age of 70, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Katie, his children Caren and her husband Godwin, their children Christopher and Abigail, Lee and his wife Sandra and their children Nicole and Rueben, his sisters Doris, widow of Jimmy Kerr, Rita and her husband Raymond Merrill, his sister Maria and his brother Gino, uncles and aunties in Malta and abroad, nephews and nieces, other relatives and  many friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, February 5 at 2.45pm for Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Ħniena Divina Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRECH - Pawla. In memory of Pawla Grech from Fontana, who later on in life went to live in Victoria, Gozo. Pawla went to heaven on February 3 aged 87 blessed with Holy sacraments. She will always be remembered with love by her siblings, Mary and Kikka, her sister-in-law Marija, grandchildren, relatives and friends. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Monday, February 5. At 3.30pm she will be taken to St George’s Basilica from the Gozo General Hospital. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4pm. Afterwards, she will be taken to St Mary’s Cemetery to be buried in her family’s grave.

PHILLIPS. On January 22, in the UK, HELEN, née Booker, passed away peacefully comforted by rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Zoe, James and Sophie, her son-in-law Sam Dawson, her grandchildren Robin and Maggie, her sister Georgie, as well as family and friends both in Malta and overseas. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SCIBERRAS. On February 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, SALVATORE of Lija, former sacristan, Lija parish church, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Joseph and his wife Catherine, his niece Josephine and her husband Alan, cousins and their relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, February 5 at 3pm for Our Saviour parish church, Lija, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment at Lija cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
