Last month, the QLZH Foundation, through its sister brands QuickLets and Zanzi Homes, teamed up with Dingli council to continue its #Treedom campaign. For each home sold through Zanzi Homes, the proptech company plants a tree – and this time, the project also included the Dingli San Nikola Primary School, along with other NGOs, including the Scouts.

In conjunction with Jum is-Sigar, children found themselves active on the field, planting trees around the Scouts’ Dingli headquarters. The trees were donated by the QLZH Foundation, while a team from Zanzi Homes also gave a hand in the tree planting.

The foundation’s chairman Steve Mercieca said “thanks to Dingli council we have been able to contribute even more to our one-home-one-tree project, namely by adding trees in a place used by a large part of the community and also by involving children fostering awareness at a young age”.

Dingli mayor Sandro Azzopardi said: “It’s great to see children in the community take part in such initiatives. This is in partnership with Ekoskola within the San Nikola Primary School, but also in appreciation of the ‘Sejhet is-Sigar’ initiative, introduced by Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Parnis.

“Various NGOs, including the Scouts, will benefit from a greener and cleaner estate. We want to encourage voluntary organisations and the local community to engage children in such activities as our sustainable future depends on it”.

The QLZH Foundation and the local council plan on planting more trees in the locality, including playing fields and public spaces, to create more vibrant and diverse green zones. Mr Mercieca said: “If today we can enjoy a picnic in the shade, it is because years ago someone decided to plant a tree. If we are to positively impact the future, we must do it now.”
