Physiotherapists have been given a date with the government to discuss their sectoral agreement, and the union has agreed to suspend the industrial action planned for Monday.

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses had registered an industrial dispute after the failure to start discussions over a new sectoral agreement for Allied Health Professions, physiotherapists said.

The sectoral agreement concerns their pay, continuous professional development and conditions of work.

Widespread industrial action is also being taken by the doctors' union, MAM, over the VGH-Steward hospitals deal.

The dispute covers physiotherapists employed by the public service, Vitals Global Healthcare and the Foundation for Medical Services.
