I have been airing my idea of setting up the Malta Transport Museum for years now. Thus, I congratulate the Malta Railway Foundation for contributing to promote the train heritage in Malta among the Maltese, especially the young. Years ago, thanks to a benefactor, rails had been given to the Birkirkara local council.

Some sort of transport museum would collect and put on display old buses, if any remain. It will also serve to concentrate items related to the Maltese motoring heritage under one roof. In addition, it can encourage dialogue and discussions via the internet about places of interest related to the history of transport in Malta. This could lead to the preservation of old transport means that would otherwise be lost forever.

In St Thomas Bay, some years back, I had come across what used to be the last tram to operate in Malta. Unfortunately, it seems nature has destroyed it and I wonder whether at least its chassis remains.

Anybody interested in the Malta Transport Museum idea can contact me at PO Box 16, Msida. I have correspondence and other information I can hand over to interested parties from Malta. I had contacted the European Transport Museums seeking assistance and guidance in setting up a transport museum. Malta needs such a museum and my wish is to engage people with disabilities to assist in its running.

I truly believe that this idea can work and it would surely prove beneficial for the tourist industry.

Anybody from the private sector who wishes to help will be more than welcome.
