All motorists who observe the stipulated 60kph speed limit are finding it somewhat difficult to continue doing so. Without realising, one is soon going at 60kph and, at times, it even seems one is moving slowly and causing traffic to slow down.

I am sure many a driver has been booked for ‘overspeeding’, that is travelling between 1 and 15kph over the allowed 60kph.

It is most unfair that one is ‘punished’ for driving at, say, 62kph. When one considers that 2kph is equivalent to 1.25 miles an hour, the matter becomes even more laughable. To further compound motorists’ misery, one is further punished by the three points awarded for this so-called ‘hairy’ speed.

Today, it would be fair and just, if the speed allowed were to be raised to 70 kph (a difference of 6.25mph), obviously on certain roads only, like a bypass.

I would expect Transport Malta would not find the above too hard to implement.
