The article regarding the chaos on the buses on the night Valletta officially became European Capital of Culture tried to portray what happened as a one-off situation. It is not. As a former resident of 25 years, until 2013, I was appalled to return last year to the very situation that was described in the article I mention.

I experienced two-hour waits for a bus, sometimes three, as well as football hooligans’ behaviour from supposed civilised people and this at Buġibba and Valletta too.

The bus service is a joke expected in a third world country not the cradle of civilisation as some residents like to think.

No, Malta, we will not return until this mess is sorted out.
