Two university students have produced an innovative video to show the benefits of embracing a low-waste lifestyle.

By using a waste bin as the focus of the video, Denise Brignani and Federica Scinetti showed how Malta's waste crisis could be eased by ditching single-use products.

"Refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and rot are the pillars of the Zero Waste Movement which inspired us. With this short video, we hope to contribute to a mentality shift towards waste and the environment in general," they said.

The video was shot on campus and students and lecturers were asked to participate as actors... but the real star of the clip is the waste bin which is suddenly being starved of the rubbish fed to it daily.

Denise Brignani and Federica Scinetti are students at the University of Malta's Department of Digital Arts, Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences. The video were created in conjunction with Times of Malta.
