It has been quite a while that we can enjoy hi-fi music on DAB+ Radio. The reception is noise free, interference free and the audio quality quite acceptable. However, the same cannot be said for all the channels.

The Opera Channel leaves a lot to be desired. The material transmitted is varied enough, although it can do with a change, but my main complaint is sound quality. The operas are all chopped up and random pieces are transmitted without any sequence, which confuses the listener, to say the least. The radio station said it was due to a playlist, which they promised to have fixed by the end of 2017. Up to now, it is still the same.

Moreover, the sound suffers from a series of problems, like getting caught in a loop, causing a very small section to be played repeatedly at very high speed.

Another problem is sporadic breaks in transmission. I have also noted that the transmitted packets are at 72kBPS AAC. Other channels enjoy a rate of 92kBPS AAC.

I would also like to point out that these faults can only be heard on the Opera Channel. All the other channels behave as supposed to. We have been promised improvements on this channel for the past couple of years and I think it is about time to fix matters once and for all.
