Why is it that after years of mismanagement and neglect of basic services by St Paul’s Bay’s local council, the residents are being put through purgatory and, instead of the Nationalist Party facilitating the election of a new mayor, someone who hopefully can roll up his/her sleeves and start to provide basic services for the benefit of all, has instead applied for a court injunction to stop the process?

Why is it that the PN is putting the interests of the party first and before that of our locality? After all, the voters are the same electors who they are hoping that, someday, will return to the Nationalist fold. Is this therefore not also political suicide?

One need only listen to why the two former PN councillors resigned from the ruling majority and have since became independent. It is obvious that party political interference has brought this resort to its knees in the first instance because it is just not good enough to obtain the majority and become a mayor of any locality because one would also need to know what one is doing as well as having some business acumen.

There are enough local councillors with this ability but, instead of listening to them and taking their advice, which was offered with the best interests of the locality in mind, they have shunned everything they suggested.

Please remember that St Paul’s Bay is the largest council in Malta and is a thriving tourist resort, which badly needs guidance not hindrance.
