Further to Doris Lee’s letter ‘Hands off old Blighty’ (January 17), I’m afraid Michael Owen is completely out of touch with what’s happening in UK or Brexit. He gets his news from reading sensationalised local British newspaper headlines and then adds his venom and rhetoric which, as it’s now become obvious, none of the locals give a heed to. Indeed, I rarely see any Brexit-related news in the Times of Malta.

My response to his last pathetic outburst was not selected for publication by the editor – who gets hundreds of letters and has to redact – but I can assure Lee it was in very strong terms.

He not only has a big chip on his shoulder, but carries a “two inch plank”, so big that it blocks his sense of realism and logic, among other things. He’s a sad old man out of touch with politics in the UK and his boredom drives him to indulge in badly-constructed articles packed with fake news.
