Would it be a good idea to make face masks readily and freely available in hospital and clinic waiting rooms, thus increasing the odds against spreading infections?

The expense incurred would readily be recovered by having fewer people seeking treatment. Restroom door handles, a major source of contamination, could be replaced by elbow- or foot-operated levers or be self-opening.

Prevention is much more effective and cheaper in the long run.
