Maltese volleyball referee Frankie Tanti has been appointed by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) as one of the referees for a match from the eighth Finals of the Women’s Challenge Cup.

Tanti, who recently officiated his 700th local league match, will be refereeing the first leg of the tie which will see Belgian side Hermes Oostende play against Tent Obrenovac from Serbia.

Mr. Tanti will be second referee in this match, with Marcos Antonio Folgar Fraga from Spain as first. This match will be played at the Mister-V Arena in Oostende, a city which lies on the Belgian coast. Hermes Oostende hold the record with most championship wins, 13, in the Women’s Belgian Liga A, but are currently sitting in the eighth place in the same competition after 12 matches played.

Tent Obrenovac are currently in the sixth place in the Serbian Women’s Savezna Liga after hitting a series of defeats in their last matches. In the previous round they had the better of fellow Serbians Zeleznicar Lajkovac only after the golden set which they won 15-13.
