I would like to suggest to the committee of Ġieħ il-Belt Victoria – an honour bestowed by the Victoria local council – to consider Mgr Canon Felix Tabone as a possible nominee.

He had been appointed parish vicar for St George’s Basilica by the late Bishop Nikol Cauchi back in 1979, one year after his ordination. He has been serving St George’s and the entire Christian community of Victoria – not to say Gozo’s Christian community – for about 40 years and will be celebrating his 40th anniversary as a priest this July 2018.

St George’s church is frequented by people from all over Malta and Gozo, especially over the weekend, and his face is known to hundreds of people. I would not be exaggerating if I were to say his parish church served the whole island of Gozo due to the hundreds of people who descend upon it for the Sunday evening Masses.
