A few days ago I received a notice of an alleged parking contravention from mid-November 2017. Since I had found no ticket on my windscreen I was completely oblivious.

I wanted to check whether Lesa were correct or otherwise and requested their photographic proof. If they were correct I would pay, if mistaken I would appeal. Simple.

However, they refused my request for photographic evidence stating that such proof would only be provided should I opt to appeal in front of a tribunal. I think this is abusive because Lesa are simply hedging in the hope that people are too busy to waste their precious time and money and so would pay, even if they have niggling doubts about their “guilt”.

If Lesa have no problem supplying photos of vehicles caught by speed cameras, why are they reluctant to supply evidence of “sitting-duck” parking offences?

Why should they force people to appear in front of a tribunal when they would pay a fine online if the proof against them were overwhelming? Is this not an erosion of citizens’ rights, a waste of time, money, and unnecessary extra road traffic for nothing?
