Gżira United are set to complete their third signing of the January transfer window as they have offered a contract to midfielder Bruno Pezzella.

The 29-year-old Argentine has been training with Gżira United for almost two weeks now and it looks like he has a left a positive impression on coach Darren Abdilla who has decided to offer him a contract.

Pezzella is understood to have already agreed personal terms and is set to put pen to paper on 18-month contract. He is expected to make his debut against champions Hibernians on January 28.

Pezzella started his career with Argentine club General Roca before moving to Italy where he played for SS Akragas and Messina.

He is the brother of Fiorentina defender German Pezzella who joined La Viola last summer from Real Betis.

Meanwhile, Bruno Pezzella’s signing is unlikely to be the last piece of jigsaw for the Maroons as they are still looking to bring in a defender.

Kris Thachkray, the former Qormi defender, is currently on trial with the club but so far no decision has been taken on whether he will be handed a contract.

Sources have told Times of Malta that Gżira will take all the time necessary before adding a defender as they look to bring in the right addition to their first-team squad.

Gżira United have already signed Chile midfielder Edison Bilbao Zarate and Nigerian forward Haruna Garba this month.
