Manual machines of the past were to a certain extent easier, less complicated, less expensive and quicker to use. And psychologically speaking, less stressful.

Great authors in the past had used typewriters and had worked hard to write encyclopedias, dictionaries and books.

The majority of typewriters were used without the need of batteries or electricity to function, and no updates were needed every now and then. The internet wasn’t around so there was no threat of viruses and there were no bills from the service providers.

Today, many people become frustrated with computers that require passwords which are sometimes forgotten.

Typewriters needed very little service to be used, and the ribbons needed to the changed after quite a while. All that was needed were sheets of typing paper and correction fluid.

It may make sense for students to be given the chance to experience the use of a typewriter, so they can appreciate a different method of writing. In the past, typewriters created a feeling of self-esteem to anyone with imagination working on creative personal projects.

In those days, a person at work never feared that somebody could cause havoc with his data or his work as a result of hacking.
