The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says the doctors’ union urged the government to immediately withdraw its consent for the transfer to an American company of a 30-year, multi-million-euro concession for the running of three public hospitals. In another story, it says that according to a new EU report, some €200 million in VAT went uncollected in 2015.

The Malta Independent says the National Commission for Further and Higher Education has repeatedly failed to answer its questions on the implications of ensuring that quality education is being provided to students at the start-up American University of Malta amid reports of mass firings.
