Updated 6.25pm - A strange white liquid was flowing by the gallons down the road into the sea at St George's Bay early on Thursday afternoon.

Contacted about the matter, St Julian's council executive secretary Paul Spiteri said that a private contractor was emptying a plot of land which had filled with water and dumping it into the road.

Wardens were sent to the area, Mr Spiteri said.

The reader who sent the video said he noticed the water flow at about 1pm and it lasted for about an hour.

The Environment Authority in a statement said it received a report at 4pm and sent its inspectors, who stopped the work.

This was not the only inconvenience in the area.

Dirty water was also flowing into nearby Spinola Bay. That was a result of work by Transport Malta.
