Fr Leslie Gatt OSA has been elected provincial of the Augustinian Province of Malta.

He was chosen during the preparations for the Ordinary Chapter of the province.  

Fr. Leslie will take charge on April 4, succeeding Fr Raymond Francalanza.

Fr Leslie was born in 1978. In  2000 he commenced his novitiate in the Augustinian Order in Italy and a year later made his First Profession in the Order. In 2005 he was ordained priest in St. John’s Co-Cathedral. He studied the Maltese Language, Philosophy and Theology at the university of Malta and then pursued his studies at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome where he specialised in youth pastoral work and catechesis.

When he returned to Malta, Fr. Leslie worked in the community of Rabat where he was responsible for Formation and Youth Work. To date he has also been serving as Rector at St Augustine’s College in Pieta’ and Marsa.
