With reference to the letter titled ‘The PN’s destiny’ by Arthur Muscat (December 11) allow me to point out that, according to information I received, party officials and two deputy leaders of the Nationalist Party were free to decide whether they would remain in their position or not and were never forced to resign from their respective posts (after the June 3, general election). I would like to thank former party officials, former deputy leaders and the outgoing party leader for services rendered. In this context, should what the correspondent augured in a somewhat hypothetical scenario materialise, and become fact, in the sense that Simon Busuttil would return as leader (always provided he would accept to do so). I am of the opinion that thousands of voters would leave the PN forever.

One has to keep in mind that these would have to be added to all those who have already left.
