An encore screening of The Bolshoi Ballet’s classic performance of The Nutcracker, will take place tomorrow at St James Cavalier.

This delightful two-act ballet with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky has become a Christmastime tradition. It revolves around an imaginative child named Marie and her enchanted Nutcracker doll. As the clock strikes midnight, audiences can expect plenty of surprises: this is a world where nutcrackers turn into princes, toys come to life, sweets dance and animals talk and lead great armies.

Viewers can expect two hours of pure enchantment featuring some of the Bolshoi’s greatest artists. Premiered in 1982, this tale of magic and imagination still resonates with the young and the young at heart – offering a great festive outing for lovers, friends and the whole family on cold winter nights. The libretto is adapted from two fantastical stories: E.T.A Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Alexandre Dumas’s The Nutcracker. The Bolshoi Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker will be screened tomorrow at 7.30pm at St James Cavalier Cinema, Valletta. For tickets, visit www.kreattivita.org.
