Six properties are to be restored by the government in terms of a scheme by the Ministry of Justice and Local Government where local councils are invited to propose such sites.

25 submissions were made by the councils.

The sites are the chapel of the beheading of St John in Siġġiewi, the facade of the chapel of St John Baptist, Għargħur; the niche of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Paola; tal-Matla wall in Mqabba; the facade of the parish centre in Ħal Safi and the facade of the Chapel San Pawl tal-Ħġejjeġ in St Paul's Bay.

Over the past three years, the Restoration Directorate embarked on 50 restoration projects in 31 localities.
