PwC Malta has announced the acquisition of The Richard Clarke Academy (RCA) in Malta.  Since 2009 RCA Malta has established itself as one of the leading ACCA training providers in Malta and has built a strong reputation among bright, ambitious students seeking to obtain their ACCA qualification.  RCA Malta will continue to operate under its current name until the end of March, when all training services offered by PwC Malta’s training arm – PwC Academy – will be housed in its new state-of-the-art 2,000 sq mtr building, adjacent to the PwC Malta Qormi offices.

“This acquisition constitutes yet another important milestone for the firm and for the profession at large.  We have invested, and will continue to invest, in areas that we believe will contribute to making Malta a centre of excellence.  Education and professional development constitute one such area,’’ said PwC Malta’s Territory Senior Partner, David Valenzia.

As one of the leading professional services firms in Malta, PwC’s service offering goes beyond sharing knowledge and comprehensive advice across various industries, in the areas of accounting, auditing, taxation and advisory. Set up in 2010, PwC’s Academy, a licensed institution for further and higher education, engages actively in delivering specialised training tailored for professionals in areas related to financial services, asset management, banking, insurance, gaming, compliance, data protection and information technology amongst others.  The Academy has over the past years also organised learning programmes for children, based on STEM education and creative thinking.

“We are indeed very excited to extend our Academy’s training services, which traditionally target the corporate market, to the student market.  PwC’s extensive experience in learning and education coupled with the invaluable dedication and know-how of the team of professionals at RCA will provide accounting students with the best platform to kick-start their career.

As Malta’s economy continues to develop, the country needs to attract and develop more students in areas related to accounting and finance, technology and innovation

“We started giving serious thought to extending our training offering to include ACCA tuition as a result of the numerous queries received about the qualification.  Offering ACCA tuition seemed like a natural addition to our existing portfolio of training services and solutions, and acquiring RCA Malta, was likewise a natural step,” added Mr Valenzia.

He said that businesses today need to adapt to changing demographics, economic and social environments.

“As a firm, we firmly believe that assisting our clients upskill their staff to adequately prepare for the business world while giving advice on areas such as digital transformation, automation and innovation are key to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.”

Mr Clarke said: “I am delighted to have concluded this transaction with PwC Malta, and I intend to contribute to the success of the Academy and its students by sharing my knowledge and experience through my lecturing.”

In describing PwC Academy’s strategy, Mr Valenzia continued: “As Malta’s economy continues to develop, the country needs to attract and develop more students in areas related to accounting and finance, technology and innovation.  Our Academy will provide students, whether they come from within the profession or from industry, with an exciting learning journey which equips them with the foundations needed to face today’s dynamic business environment.

“The manner in which we provide our services, that is set on focusing on quality and professionalism, using the latest in what technology can provide, remains at the forefront of everything we do.

“This transaction together with our investment in PwC Academy, including the new premises, demonstrates our promise to develop the services that we already provide as well as the introduction of new services,” said Mr Valenzia.
