The police have smashed a human trafficking ring and found some 20 victims of such trafficking, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced this evening in a joint statement with the parliamentary secretariat responsible for citizenship.

The victims had been brought to Malta to work.

The authorities are seeking shelter for them and will grant them emergency protection status covering both residence and employment.
