ABELA. On December 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, CHARLIE (Il-Baker) of Dingli, former Dingli local council member and former Dockyard employee, aged 73, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Luckie, his children Audrey and her husband Stephen, Roderick and his wife Tiziana and Fabienne and her fiancé Christopher, his grandsons Tristan and Kieran Mark, his brothers and sisters, in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends, amongst whom Emanuel Scicluna. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital, on Thursday, December 14 at 3pm for Dingli parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Dingli cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

ANDERSON. On December 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, ISOBEL MARGARET (Hazel), widow of James, aged 86. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Fiona and Ian and his wife Seonaid, grandchildren Alasdair and Louise, sister Yvonne and her husband Alex, nieces and their family, as well as many other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held at Ta’ Xbiex marina (near the Black Pearl) on Friday, December 15 at 10.30am, followed by burial at sea. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to cancer care at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital or the Emanuele Cancer Research Foundation, University of Malta, Valletta Campus.

DRAGO. On December 10, HENRY JOSEPH of Żabbar, aged 76, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Patrick and Marion and their respective spouses, Deirdre and Jeremy, his beloved grandchildren, Emma, Fionn, Saoirse and Euan; his brother Joseph and his wife Grace; his sister, Grace and her husband Joe Zerafa; Freddie Baldacchino, widower of his sister Carmen, Anna, widow of his brother Twanny, the family of his late wife, Mairin Drago, née McCartin’s sister Eileen and Allan Heron, her brother Gerry and Catriona McCartin; Carmel Galea, widower of her sister Shelagh, all his nephews and nieces here in Malta and abroad, and all his many friends, neighbours and colleagues of St Edward’s College. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 8.30am at Our Lady of Graces Sanctuary, Żabbar, followed by interment at Żabbar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the ALS Foundation, Ħamrun, and Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SCICLUNA. On December 10, at Gozo General Hospital, Mgr CARMELO SCICLUNA, of Victoria, Gozo, treasurer of the collegiate chapter of the basilica of St George, chaplain of the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, and former spiritual director of primary and secondary schools in Gozo, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Joseph and his wife Teresina, Rose Mary, widow of his brother Emanuel, his nephews and nieces Alvin, Josephine, Noel, Annette, Josalda, Sylvana, Joe, Miriam, Bridget, John Paul and their respective families, nephews and nieces, the Collegiate Chapter and clergy of the Basilica of St George, the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital today, December 12, at 2.30pm and his earthly remains will be taken to the Franciscan Sisters church in Palm Street, Victoria. At 3.30pm the Collegiate Chapter and clergy will celebrate the Office of the Dead and at 3.30pm the cortège will leave for St George’s Basilica where vespers will be sung, followed by Mass præsente cadavere at 4pm. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

TONNA. On December 7, MARIO, aged 74, passed away peacefully, comforted by his family and the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreplaceable loss his beloved wife Lucienne, his adored children Marcus, Dionne and Kristel, their spouses Natasha, Mike and Nicolas, his beloved grandchildren Julia, Michelle, Matthew and Mia, his brothers Paul and Anthony, and their wives Mary and Pauline, his sister Carmen, his mother-in-law Marisa and her husband Godfrey, his nephews, nieces and numerous friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

XUEREB.  On December 10, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, MARIA, aged 87, of Birkirkara, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved sisters Helen and Anne, her brother Andrè and his wife Therese, her nephews and nieces Marie and her husband Joe, Rosette and her husband Julian, Monica and her husband Lawrence, Mark and his wife Audrey and Patrick and his partner Joanne, her great nephews and nieces Martina and her husband Samuel, Stefan and Klara, Lisa and Karl, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow, Wednesday, December 13, at 7.45am for St Helen Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8:30am followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
