Maltese volleyball referee Nello Calleja has been appointed by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) for two matches from this season’s European competitions.

Calleja’s first tie was played at the end of November in Kfar Saba, Israel, between local side Hapoel Kfar Saba and Cypriots Nea Salamina Famagusta. This match from the Men’s Challenge Cup roudn two finished with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-12) win for the home team.

Mr. Calleja officiated as first referee with Tuncay Kandemir from Turkey as second, with the match played in the new Green Hall in Kfar Saba.

The second match will be from the Women’s CEV Cup and will see Italian side Yamamay u-net Busto Arsizio play against ŽOK Bimal-Jedinstvo Brčko of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr. Calleja will be second referee in this match from the 16th finals, with Vasileios Vasileiadis of Greece as first. This match will be played at the PalaYamamay in Busto Arsizio.
