St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta is hosting the next event in the Italian Cultural Institute’s Magic Box series.
Entitled Musica: che passione!, the event will see the participation of the Cenacolo della Musica – International School based in Catignano, Abruzzo.
The school has been running classes to engage students from Abruzzo in music. The Cenacolo’s slogan is ‘Make music your profession’, and in fact the school enjoys participating in high-level international competitions.
The school’s director Antonella Mazzarulli will talk on various aspects of the study of music in Italy, both in a public and private context. The school’s vicepresident, Massimo Berini, will also be present.
Maltese mezzo-soprano Graziella Debattista Briffa, who has just graduated with a Master’s in music from the Royal Academy of Music in London, will talk about joint projects in the musical field between the University of Malta and Italy, and will perform various pieces accompanied by pianist Romina Morrow.
Flautist and transverse flute teacher Mattia Carugno will also perform during the evening.
The event is taking place today at St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta, at 6.30pm. Entrance is free.
