Despite several signs between Qui Si Sana and Balluta Bay on the Sliema seafront, it appears many cyclists have difficulty seeing them.

While young children are specifically exempted from the cycling ban, many older children, and more particularly adults, ride (pun intended) roughshod over the rules.

The cycling ban is there for a very good reason. The promenade is used by people to enjoy a peaceful walk on their own or with friends and family, and not to be in regular danger of a high-speed cyclist colliding with them or their children.

Either the no-cycling rule needs to be enforced, or different signs erected stating: “Beware of fast-moving cyclists, you walk on this promenade entirely at your own risk, and Sliema council absolves itself from all and any responsibility of injuries resulting.”
