Denise Grech, a Maltese airline pilot, has landed a Boeing B757 airliner on a blue ice runway in Novolazarevskaya, a Russian station in Antarctica.

The station is used to ferry scientists from 11 countries throughout the Antarctic region known as the Dronning Maud Land.

The aircraft, registered in Malta, is operated by JetMagic Ltd, a Sliema-based company which claims on its website to operate a fleet of aircraft for VIPs and heads of state.
