On December 7, Malta will host a Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel in St Julians.

FinanceMalta is sponsoring this event which is targeted at all those interested in blockchain and cryptocurrencies in terms of business. Delegates and speakers include entrepreneurs, investors, consultants and IT specialists working with blockchain and digital currencies. The objective of the event is to develop the blockchain community and to establish communication between its participants.

The key topic of the event will be legislation and regulation in the blockchain field. These issues will be also covered during a panel discussion, moderated by cryptocurrency expert Steve Tendon, with the participation of GTG Advocates Partner Ian Gauci, GANADO Advocates senior partner Max Ganado, and managing partner at EY Central and South-East Europe, Ronald Attard.

The conference will also discuss the cryptocurrency industry in Malta; DCO and smart contracts; challenges of intellectual property; decentralised economy and its global role.

The government of Malta was one of the first in Europe to announce the introduction of blockchain into state programs (in the Land Register and National Health Registries) with a working group on Blockchain being formed comprising government representatives and representatives from the industry. With regards finance in Malta, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat repeatedly said that digital currency should be introduced at the state and the European Union levels, stating “Cryptocurrencies cannot be stopped”.

The Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Malta forms part of a series of events dedicated to blockchain and bitcoin, held by Smile-Expo in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia, Sweden and other countries.
