The Europe for Citizens Contact Point in Malta, together with the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee and the Europe Direct Information Centre, organised a training seminar for local councils and NGOs at the Grand Hotel in Għajnsielem.

The seminar dealt with an over-view of the Europe For Citizens Programme, the e-Form Application, its correct compilation process and what is expected by beneficiaries applying for funds under the Europe for Citizens Programme.

Participants were addressed by Xagħra local council executive secretary Ivan Attard, who spoke on the council’s town twinning project.

Other speakers included Natalino Attard, director general, Local Government Division MJCL, Robert Tabone, head EU Affairs, Local Government Division MJCL and Mandy Falzon, head EU Funding, MEUSAC.

The seminar also included a number of workshops. Participants were divided into four groups; each group had to examine and reflect on the four programmes one can apply for - European Remembrance, Town Twinning, Network of Towns and Civil Society Projects.

Participants had to come up with an eligible project profile taking into consideration all the necessary eligibility criteria, number of partners and participants, project duration, project objectives, schedule of activities and a dissemination plan.

This exercise was carried out to assess the knowledge gained from the previous training session and to prepare for the upcoming March 1, 2018 funds deadline.
