All local secondary schools and colleges have been invited to submit five of the best artworks produced by their students to a new art competition called the Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize.
Launched by Sovereign Trust (Malta) Ltd, it will award a €500 cash prize to the student winning first place, and €2,000 to his or her school. There are other cash prizes for participants and their schools placing second and third.
Stephen Griffiths, managing director of Sovereign Trust (Malta) Ltd, said: “We believe art plays a vital role in fostering creativity and building confidence in young adults. The Sovereign Art Foundation aims to use the prize to encourage artistic talent and showcase the efforts of talented students in Malta.”
Entries must be submitted from January 8 to 12, 2018. All entries will be viewed by an international judging panel, including senior Sovereign personnel and local artists, to shortlist 12 pieces, of which the three winners will be chosen by the public either by voting online or at exhibitions of the shortlisted works to be held in Malta.
The three winners will presented the prizes at an award ceremony to be held at the end of March 2018.
