Vulgar and denigrating thoughts expressed unashamedly in newspapers are an unforgiving insult.

Mario Dingli deserves a public admonition unless he repents.

To rise from the nadir of a humble home to the pinnacle of power is a feat of character and personality rather than the outcome of popular political power. As a servant of the State, President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca deserves all praise and honour. To begrudge her deserving expenses is the weak judgement of a feeble mind bent on destructive criticism rather than on praise for service rendered. She has fulfilled her official role with flying colours.

Our President is an upright lady determined on doing the best for Malta. She believes in making her presence felt whatever country she is invited to.

To rule from San Anton Palace through diplomatic correspondence will brand her as an ineffective paper figurehead. Yet, it is no pleasure to live in a suitcase. Travelling means sacrifice and hardship.

Any expenses incurred in fulfilling Malta’s duties abroad are amply compensated by diplomatic successes that established Malta on the world map. Successes entailed planning and delivering convincing speeches.

She has done extremely well.
