Roma host Lazio in the first Derby della Capitale of the Serie A season on Saturday.

There is no love lost between the Roman giants and in recent years meetings in the Italian capital have even been marred by tragedies.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at five of the most memorable footballing encounters between the rivals at the Stadio Olimpico.

UHOH, NEGRO

Lazio 0 Roma 1 - December 10, 2000

Paolo Negro, who was unfortunate enough to score a decisive own goal in the winter derby of 2000, remains the subject of intense mockery from Roma fans today. They are even willing to forget the defender's sole Scudetto and three Italian cups with Lazio due to the favour he did them in one fateful match.

Seventy minutes had passed without real incident when Negro got caught between an Angelo Peruzzi parry on Cristiano Zanetti's header and Alessandro Nesta's subsequent attempt to clear the danger, with the ball bouncing off him and into the net. Six months later, Roma were celebrating winning the title.

MONTELLA MADNESS

Lazio 1 Roma 5 - March 10, 2002

Roma were the reigning Italian champions heading into this spring derby and, although Juventus went on to beat them to the 2001-02 title, Fabio Capello's Giallorossi retained their lethal cutting edge in front of goal.

Vincenzo Montella - nicknamed 'The Little Airplane' for his arms-as-wings celebration - reminded Lazio who was in charge in the capital with four irresistible goals. He plundered a first-half hat-trick inside 24 minutes and made it four in the second period, with Francesco Totti also rubbing salt in the wounds.

SIX OF THE BEST AT THE STADIO

Lazio 4 Roma 2 - April 11, 2009

For pure entertainment this clash stands out as it had almost everything, including six different goalscorers and three red cards. It took Goran Pandev only two minutes to kick things off with a powerful volley and Mauro Zarate soon doubled Lazio's lead with a screamer from 30 yards.

Philippe Mexes pulled one back before Stephan Lichtsteiner restored Lazio's advantage with a fine header. Cristian Panucci, Mexes and Lazio's Matuzalem were all dismissed, allowing Daniele De Rossi to cut through and bring Roma back into contention. However, Aleksandar Kolarov wrapped it up for Lazio.

UP FOR THE CUP

Roma 0 Lazio 1 - May 26, 2013

For all their years as Serie A mainstays, Roma and Lazio had never before faced each other in the Coppa Italia final, with the Giallorossi boasting nine cups to their rivals' five by the time the 2013 showpiece came around.

After a keenly contested hour of football, Senad Lulic fired the Biancocelesti faithful into a frenzy with a winning goal from Antonio Candreva's assist. The triumph earned Lazio a place in the next season's Europa League group stage, further infuriating Roma as they failed to qualify for Europe at all.

FRANCESCO'S SELFIE

Roma 2 Lazio 2 - January 11, 2015

Totti, now 41 and finally retired, tormented Lazio across his generation-spanning career and in April 2013 he reached 10 goals against the Biancocelesti in the fixture.

Almost two years later he made it 11 with a finish that betrayed his advancing years, scoring acrobatically from a Jose Holebas cross to the far post. Totti had something special planned and, after retrieving his phone from coach Guido Nanni, he took a famous 'duck pout' selfie in front of the Curva Sud.
