Ħamrun Spartans have made another high-profile signing after the arrival of World Cup winner Cristian Zaccardo, as they have officially acquired the services of Italian forward Davide Succi.

He has been on trial with the club for the past few weeks and has also featured in friendly match against Gżira United, where he netted twice for the Spartans.

Succi is no new name to Italian football fans having featured for over 200 games between Serie A and Serie B throughout his career.

The 36-year old is notably known for his experiences at Ravenna and Cesena. With the Giallorossi he played almost 100 games where he enjoyed a ratio of almost a goal per game while with the team of the Stadio Dino Manuzzi, he was entrusted with the captain's armband while helping the club to reach Italy's top-flight, at the end of the 2013/2014 season.

Among other clubs he played, Succi donned the shirt of Palermo with whom he played in the Serie A and scored seven goals, including one against Inter in a 2-2 draw at the San Siro during the 2008/2009 campaign.

Lately, Succi pursued his career in the Indian Super League with Chennaiyin FC before heading to Forli, in Serie D, last season.

Succi will be not available for coach Jacques Scerri's selection for next Sunday's big game against Valletta as his international clearance has yet to arrive.

The team's forward line is likely to be led by another new signing Wim Bokila, a Dutch forward, who has been training with the club for the past weeks.
