Some 400 to 500 people braved the damp weather and met at City Gate in Valletta on Thursday evening to take part in a silent walk to mark a month since Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb.

The walk took participants through Republic Street to Ms Caruana Galizia's memorial, next to the Great Siege monument.

Some carried placards, flowers, plants and candles. These were placed at the foot of Ms Caruana Galizia's memorial near the Great Siege Monument.

Bay leaves with messages written on them were also left at the memorial area. Messages included the words 'justice', 'kuraġġ', 'never forgotten'.

The centre of attraction was, however, a photo of Ms Caruana Galizia with a quote from her husband Peter, which said: "She was killed because she mattered."

Participants, including former Opposition leader Simon Busuttil, former PD leader Marlene Farrugia, and other Nationalist MPs also sang the national anthem.

Protestors said that although 30 days had passed since the assassination and although people fought and took a stand, they were still being ignored.

On Wednesday night, the Opposition walked out of parliament, saying the government cannot continue adopting a 'business as usual' attitude.
