I refer to the item titled ‘Għaxaq shooting: court must send message Malta not a wild west country’ (October 23).

In the article it was claimed that legal aid lawyer Martin Fenech said that his client’s pleas with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority fell on deaf ears.

The OHSA would like to specify that, following an internal verification exercise, it transpired that no such report was ever lodged with the regulator.

We would like to take this opportunity to state that any person can refer any complaint or request a visit from occupational health and safety officers to ascertain compliance with the law.

Such referrals can be done even anonymously, since the OHSA guarantees the confidentiality of the complainant at all times.
