Eleven foldable mobility scooters are being made available to the Sliema community to help them get around, with a new donation from the International Women’s Association received which will allow the organisers of the initiative to buy two more.

The sponsors of the first 11 scooters were Rotary Club La Valette and OK Medical.

The scheme allows people to book a scooter on temporary basis, and is aimed mostly at the elderly and those with a disability. It is open to all Sliema residents and the only condition is that the scooters should only be driven within Sliema.

The scheme is being run by Volunteer Sliema, a partnership between SOS Malta and Core Platform and is supported by the Sliema Local Council and St James Hospital.

For reservations, contact 2133 7633, extension 11.
