The stormy weather of the past few days caught some people still in their summer gear by surprise.

But a wet t-shirt and flip flops is nothing compared to the tempest a group of local mariners found themselves caught in.

A short video clip uploaded to Malta and Gozo like & share Facebook page shows the men, crouching and kitted out in wet suits, as their boat makes its way through a storm at sea.

At one point, the biting wind whips a rubber dinghy tied to the vessel up into the air, smashing it against the swell and then flinging it up again.

Fish farm nets can be seen in the background, suggesting the men were out at sea to feed the fish.

Wet and windy weather is expected to last through the week, with rains easing off around Friday but the wind picking up in its stead, blowing at up to force 6 on the Beaufort scale on the weekend.
