Good morning.
The following are the top stories in Malta’s newspapers today.

The Sunday Times of Malta says a court expert with a criminal record has been appointed to investigate the communications and IT data of slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, despite a previous ruling that clearly signalled he should not be used anymore.

It also reports that Adrian Delia has offered an apology to the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia for his outburst of anger towards her during the PN election campaign, but the apology was rejected by the journalist’s sister.

MaltaToday says Edward Caruana, the Education Minister’s former aide, is to be taken to court and accused of extortion with regard to contracts awarded by the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools.

The Malta Independent reports that Joseph Cuschieri, currently chairman of the Gaming Authority, will be appointed chairman of the MFSA, succeeding Joe Bannister. Former minister Edward Zammit Lewis declined the role. It also says protesters at Castille Square have been overwhelmed by support, but underwhelmed by the prime minister, who has ignored them.

It-Torċa says a White Paper on rent laws is expected to be published in the first quarter of the new year.

KullĦadd focuses on 'Crisis Delia,' saying that some within the PN want the leader to go and others are calling for former leader Lawrence Gonzi to mediate. It also says Pierre Portelli is attending PN parliamentary group meetings as Dr Delia's adviser.

Il-Mument says that deputy prime minister Chris Fearne challenged the prime minister and got his way for the holding of a parliamentary debate on Caruana Galizia’s murder. The debate was requested by the opposition.

Illum says ‘rebel’ MPs within the PN are seeking somebody courageous enough to move a vote of no confidence against leader Adrian Delia. The rebels argue that Dr Delia lacks to moral authority to argue in the Caruana Galizia case.
