A violent argument at a Magħtab construction site between two colleagues has landed the aggressor with a conditional discharge.

Innocent Lawrence Farrugia, 43, from Mellieħa, was accused of having grievously hurt his colleague and breaching the peace by fighting in public.

Mr Farrugia and his victim had reportedly been involved in a row one day in March 2015, shortly after midday, at the construction site where they were both working.

As the argument flared up, the accused had punched his colleague, who subsequently required medical treatment in hospital.

Mr Farrugia pleaded guilty to the charges and had subsequently also tried to make good for his wrongdoing by reimbursing the victim for damages suffered.

The court, presided over by magistrate Neville Camilleri, declared the man guilty and conditionally discharged him for 18 months.

Inspectors Marthese Micallef and Roderick Spiteri prosecuted. Lawyers Franco Debono and Amadeus Cachia were defence counsel. Lawyer Arthur Azzopardi appeared parte civile.
