As part of Archives Awareness Week, an annual public lecture on ‘Collecting literary archives and other private papers in Commonwealth countries’ will be given by David Sutton in Rabat tomorrow.

Sutton has been director of research projects at Reading University Library since 1982. He studied literature and librarianship at British and Irish universities and then food history at the Université de Paris-VIII in the 1970s.

He is editor of the Location Register of English Literary Manu­scripts, UK editor of the WATCH website (Writers Artists and their Copyright Holders), chair of the Section for Archives of Literature and Art (SLA) within the International Council on Archives and coordinator of the Diasporic Literary Archives Network. He has published extensively on literary manuscripts, archival ethics and copyright.

His other interests include food history and writing about food, local politics and public transport.

The lecture will be held tomorrow at 6.30pm at the National Archives of Malta in Rabat. The event is open to the public.
