FLORIANA              2

Vella 17; Pisani 74 pen.

MOSTA                     2

Maric 83; Farrugia 90

Mosta secured a 2-2 draw in a dramatic finale which earned the Blues an improbable point while denying Floriana the chance to move three points behind joint-leaders Valletta and Gzira United.

On minute 17 Greens started to inch up themselves on the field and in their first noteworthy action, they broke the duck.

Vella prevailed from an Edison Zarate’s mistake and the Chilean midfielder floored the Italian midfielder for a free-kick. Floriana’s no.10 took charge of the free-kick and executed the set-piece in a delightful manner to put the Greens ahead.

After Arthur Oyama was  sent off, the Greens still maintained their skill and structure and in a quick moment of brilliance, Vella managed to earn a penalty at the expense of Davide Mansi.

Skipper Steve Pisani took responsibility and displaced Vella to put his side in the driving seat.

The Blues were not to be disheartened and they even pulled one back seven minutes from time when Ivan Maric connected on a Zarate’s free-kick with a towering header.

However, his positive performance was marred by a late red card after fouling Enrico Pepe.

In the dying minutes of the match, the Greens were looking to preserve their lead with Mosta becoming increasingly more nervous as they were striving to level draw.

Meanwhile, both set of fans were taking the spotlight as they were chanting against each other forcing the security to intervene and in that moment, former Floriana Tyron Farrugia headed home from close-range to secure a vital point for the Blues at the expense of an unbeaten Floriana.
