Over 100 academics recently participated in the Junior College’s annual three-day conference which was aimed at building bridges between different academic disciplines and research strategies. Held on the theme ‘Connections’, it sought to promote appreciation of inter-disciplinary connections and disconnections that exist between intersecting areas of study. It highlighted challenges and barriers most scholars face in this regard and it was decided that ‘Breaking Barriers’ will be the theme for next year’s conference.

Addressed by various high-profile local and international speakers, the conference included a series of parallel themed workshops at which 45 papers were presented, showcasing a variety of research initiatives on topics ranging from post-humanism, history, literature, marketing, management, aesthetics, cultural mediation, pedagogical strategies, architecture, biology, physics, mathematics, technology, psychology, LGBTIQ issues, politics, human rights and migration.

The conference proceedings will form part of this year’s Junior College symposia publication.
