The escalation of unrest among nurses and the possible impact of their industrial action on hospital patients was given prominence in today's Times of Malta. The second story featured a silent protest yesterday by journalists and former journalists in Valletta in favour of freedom of speech, folllowing the murder last Monday of blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia.

In-Nazzjon also dedicates much of its front page to the journalists' action, along with two linked stories, one about the unconvincing press conference called by the Police Commissioner to update the public on investigations, and the other about a national protest being planned for Sunday.

L-Orizzont also picks up the theme of the murder with the announcement that the government is considering a reward of €1 million for information. It also carries a report saying that violence by children on their parents is on the increase.

And The Malta Independent also dedicates its front page to the Police Commissioner's press conference and the journalists' protest, also featuring the statement that was read out by the latter on the steps across from Parliament.
