So the Prime Minister has asked the FBI to send over agents and the Home Affairs Minister has sought the assistance of Dutch Europol experts to help the police solve Daphne Caruana Galizia’s execution. For Ramona Depares is right. This was an execution similar to that of Paolo Borsellino and Giovanni Falcone in Sicily.

The Prime Minister and the Home Affairs Minister know full well that the police are not capable of solving this murder because they are the ones who, over the past four years, have systematically dismantled the police force and the army, putting puppets who are not fit for purpose in charge to serve them and, in the process, losing or sidelining a number of very valid and committed people.

There have been six bombings in the past two years. The Prime Minister and the minister responsible for the police should have asked for expert help after the second incident, not now, for it was evident to even a lay person like myself that a pattern was forming. Had they done that, then, possibly, Daphne would still be alive today.

Daphne’s death is the result of the rot and corruption that we are wallowing in and no amount of posturing, solemn faces and “I will not rest until this crime is solved” shenanigans will absolve this government from this crime of murder most foul.

The blame lies squarely on their shoulders.
