A historical night for Andre Schembri and Maltese football as the Malta vice-captain has notched a goal for Apollon Limassol against Atalanta in their Europa League group fixture which made him the first Maltese to score in the proper rounds of a UEFA competition.

Schembri levelled terms for the Cypriot club after they were trailing 1-0 to Gianpiero Gasperini's side before the Italians went on to take the lead again at the Mapei Stadium.

Adding also the goals he scored in the qualification rounds, Schembri has tallied five goals in nine games for Apollon since joining them from Boavista.
