Finance Minister Edward Scicluna, Central Bank governor Mario Vella and deputy governor Alessandro Demarco are all in Washington D.C. for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank's annual meetings.

In a statement issued today, the Finance Ministry said Prof. Scicluna held talks with various senior officials on the fringes of the events, meeting with US under secretary of state at the US Treasury David Malpassm, Irish Finance Minister Michael D'Arcy, World Bank executive director Patrizio Pagano and IMF executive director Carlo Cottarelli.

Prof. Scicluna also met with World Bank country director for the Maghreb Marie Francoise Nelly and the IMF's deputy director for the European region Mahmood Pradhan, and head of article IV mission to Malta Nir Klein.

The IMF and World Bank meetings serve as a platform for finance ministers, central bank governors, rating agency executives, academics and private sector bosses to discuss the world economic outlook, economic development and other issues of concern.

The meetings, which began on October 12, will conclude today.
