Good morning. These are brief summaries of the leading stories in today's local newspapers.

The Times of Malta leads with a report about the massive cannabis shipment seized by police late on Thursday. The record 550kg haul is the largest ever drug consignment ever intercepted by local police.

The Malta Independent also leads with news of yesterday's red letter day for the police force, with the newspaper noting that aside from the massive drug haul, police also arrested two men suspected of holding up a Sliema jewellery store.

L-Orizzont highlights the "night of success" police enjoyed, with it too reporting that police managed to seize the massive drug shipment as well as arrest the two hold-up suspects.

In-Nazzjon leads with photos of MPs David Agius and Toni Bezzina submitting their nominations to fill Nationalist Party deputy leader posts. Nominations for the two posts are now closed. The newspaper also dedicates its front page headline to the massive cannabis haul.
